For over a decade Kirsten has played an integral role in shaping Vancouver's diverse arts and culture sector. By fostering the careers of hundreds of emerging and mid career artists, she has created a legacy of lasting relationships through her carefully curated web of interconnected personal relationships with her artists, clients and cultural organizations, and has built a solid reputation both locally and internationally.
Deeply committed to projects that benefit the arts and culture community, in 2013 Kirsten created Vancouver Art Attack, a creative consulting agency that specializes in live painting events, curated art experiences, art acquisitions, artist representation and the Vancouver Art Attack Award of Excellence in Visual Arts at Emily Carr University of Art & Design. Kirsten has been a past board member of both the Community Arts Council - (North America's oldest arts council) (2019 -2022) and the Vancouver Biennale (Vancouver’s only Outdoor Public Art Museum, featuring world-class art from across the globe) (2018 - 2021). She is the past gallery director of B1 Gallery at the Beaumont Studios (2019 - 2022). And has worked as a volunteer curator in the Coast Mental Health Art Therapy Room (2017), and was producer for Portland Housing Societies A Native Perspective (2017). Kirsten is currently working as an independent curator and art advisor, representing an exclusive roster of artists. She is the co-founder and director of operations at The Well Studios, a community incubator space located in the basement of the City Centre Artist Lodge. A place that gives access to low barrier, marginalized and not for profit communities the ability to come together and create. The Well Studios provides a unique and affordable place for creativity and healing. She is an advisor and ambassador for Arts & Culture with the Vancouver Biennale - She is well known for her highly sought after signature underground, secret location art shows that take place at undisclosed spaces all over the city. |
"Working with Kirsten has been one of the most enriching experiences of my career, she has an eye for the audacious, the different, the brave... the beautiful, the horrible. She is the type of curator who is not afraid to bring the viewer closer in front of art that will challenge them. Kirsten has that rare combination between the knowledge of the harshness of the art world and human sensitivity, like an exquisite acid and sweet poetry." |
